Atria renews the production processes at the Kauhajoki plant and reorganizes to improve the profitability of beef production

Atria is investing approximately EUR 16 million in modernizing its production facility in Kauhajoki. The investment includes the demolition of old buildings and the construction of new premises. This investment strengthens the Kauhajoki unit’s ability to develop high-quality Finnish beef for both domestic and export markets.

”It is important to us that Finnish consumers and export customers continue to have access to sustainably produced, world-class Finnish beef. The reorganization strengthens collaboration with producers and ensures the continuity of domestic production”, says Markku Hirvijärvi, Vice President, Meat Business and Exports.

The change negotiations initiated to implement the production reorganizations at Atria’s plants in Kauhajoki and Jyväskylä have been concluded. The reorganizations will improve the profitability and quality of Atria’s meat business by centralizing beef cutting operations at the Kauhajoki plant. Beef slaughtering will continue in Jyväskylä.

As a result of the reorganizations agreed upon in the change negotiations, the amount of work will be reduced by approximately 60 positions at Atria’s Jyväskylä plant. In addition, capacity will be adjusted through temporary layoffs at both the Jyväskylä and Kauhajoki plants. The reduction in personnel will be implemented between late 2026 and early 2027. Employees at the Jyväskylä plant affected by the change negotiations will be offered jobs at other Atria plants.

By centralizing production and investing in Kauhajoki, annual savings of approximately EUR 3 million will be achieved.
